NOVA Training and Development’s courses have been designed by trained adult educators. But not only are the designers trained adult educators, they have direct operational experience running active water systems.
NOVA courses follow the principle that most (not all) people learn and retain:
- 30% of what they see (the course video)
- 50% of what they see and hear (the video narrative and the video slides)
- 70% of what they write or say (the module quizzes)
- 90% of what they learned as they do something with the information (the questions requiring a written response by the student and the final test).
The average scores on the comprehensive final tests of our courses are consistently in the mid 90s, so this process (although repetitive) works well for the majority of students.
CEU value is based on the average time that it takes an operator to complete all components of the courses. Newer operators may take longer to complete a course than seasoned, experienced operators. Computer literacy and typing skills also vary from one individual to another. Regulatory authorities acknowledge these facts and upon successful completion of a course students are awarded the CEU value established for the courses.
