Certificate of Completion

A certificate of completion from NOVA Online shows that the student has completed all the requirements of the online course the student took.  This includes viewing of video material, reading material, answering study questions and completing quiz's and tests.  A Certificate of Completion from NOVA Online does not necessarily guarantee that the student has the minimum set of skills for the subject matter at hand.

Honor Code, Morals and Ethics

NOVA Online expects ethical behaviour to be exhibited by the students and other users of this site.  NOVA requires that you and you alone take the course that you signed up for, and do not operate under an assumed name or allow others to take it in your place.  You agree that you will not attempt to copy any of the material or test questions, or distribute them in any way, shape or form to anyone. You agree that you will start the course from the beginning and follow through to the end, completing every part of the course in chronological order, without attempting to short circuit. Failing to abide by the honor code, morals and ethics shall be grounds for withholding certificate of completion, without refund at the discretion of NOVA administration. Repeated attempts to circumvent the chronological order of course content may result in the user being blocked from further courses - this also at the discretion of NOVA administration.

NOVA Online expects that there will be no attempt to solicit any users of NOVA Online for  products and/or services outside of NOVA.  Any attempt to do so may result in the individual being blocked from the courses.

Purpose of Courses

The purpose of NOVA's online training courses is to provide an overview and generalities of the subject matter being covered, as well as helping to comply with local and state continuing education requirements.  NOVA does its best to ensure information of each course is accurate at the time of posting. Practices, standards and information, and regulations are constantly changing and being upgraded from place to place and governing authority to governing authority.  Some courses only cover regulatory requirements in general, it is the responsibility of the water purveyor and students in their jobs to understand and observe Federal, State and Local regulations in detail and comply with those regulations.

Continuing Education Unit

NOVA Online places the definition of 1.0 CEU (Continuing Education Unit) as equivalent to 10 contact hours as prescribed by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) method of training.

NOVA Online's training courses are designed based on current and comprehensive subjects tailored to the water treatment industry.  NOVA's courses are designed using prescribed training guidelines, concise learning objectives, and methods for assessing that learning took place. All NOVA courses have been prepared by trained, qualified instructors.  NOVA will award the stated course CEU's to students who successfully complete the selected course.

Disclaimer

Each individual state or province has their own continuing education requirements for maintaining respective water operations licenses.  Some states or provinces may also have a differing name for CEU's, such as Contact Hours (CH's), Training Units (TU's), Continuing Education (CE's) etc.

While NOVA courses will meet or exceed most state and provincial requirements, it is up to the individual taking the course to ensure that the NOVA course they select will meet any criteria required by your regulatory body for your education and licensing needs.

If a course is approved by one state or province for CEU approval, this does not necessarily mean another state or province will have the same policies. It is the responsibility of the individual taking the course to confirm suitability with their regulatory body.

NOVA staff make every attempt to insure that course content is accurate and up to date, but because drinking water regulations are functions of numerous government bodies they are subject to change at any time. For this reason, NOVA places no warranty on information provided in any of the courses. Always rely on current regulations for the most up to date information.

Regulations vary from state to state and province to province. Certain values stated in these courses may not exactly match your local regulations and should be considered for education purposes only. It is the students responsibility to understand and apply their own local regulations to the local systems they operate.
